In My Mailbox (15)

In My Mailbox is a meme originally hosted by Kristi over at The Story Siren (click for more information) that shares all the new books you've bought, borrowed, received, or traded for the week.

I had on OK week. I really have been reading the best books lately! I can't believe it's already my 15th IMM :)

Recieved/For review:

This Gorgeous Game by Donna Freitas (galley)
Summary: (taken from Amazon)

A CHILLING NOVEL ABOUT THE ISOLATION OF BEING STALKED AND THE ABUSE OF POWER.

Olivia Peters is over the moon when her literary idol, the celebrated novelist and muchadored local priest Mark D. Brendan, offers to become her personal writing mentor. But when Father Mark’s enthusiasm for Olivia’s prose develops into something more, Olivia’s emotions quickly shift from wonder to confusion to despair. Exactly what game is Father Mark playing, and how on earth can she get out of it?

This remarkable novel about overcoming the isolation that stems from victimization is powerful, luminous, and impossible to put down.

I'm really excited about this one! It was my WoW pick awhile back, and now it's actually in my hands. It's my very first galley too :) A special thanks goes to Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group.

Crossing by Andrew Fukuda (A finished copy)
Summary: (taken from Goodreads)

A loner in his all-white high school, Chinese-born Xing (pronounced “Shing”) is a wallflower longing for acceptance. His isolation is intensified by his increasingly awkward and undeniable crush on his only friend, the beautiful and brilliant Naomi Lee. Xing’s quiet adolescent existence is rattled when a series of disappearances rock his high school and fear ripples through the blue collar community in which he lives. Amidst the chaos surrounding him, only Xing, alone on the sidelines of life, takes notice of some peculiar sightings around town. He begins to investigate with the hope that if he can help put an end to the disappearances, he will finally win the acceptance for which he has longed. However, as Xing draws closer to unveiling the identity of the abductor, he senses a noose of suspicion tightening around his own neck. While Xing races to solve the mystery and clear his name, Crossing hurtles readers towards a chilling climax.

I've heard amazing things about this book! Thank you so so much Andrew Fukuda for sending me a copy! :D

Library/for review:

Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott
Summary: (taken from Goodreads)

Once upon a time I was a little girl who disappeared.
Once upon a time my name was not Alice.
Once upon a time I didn't know how lucky I was.

When Alice was ten, Ray took her away from her family, her friends -- her life. She learned to give up all power, to endure all pain. She waited for the nightmare to be over.

Now Alice is fifteen and Ray still has her, but he speaks more and more of her death. He does not know it is what she longs for. She does not know he has something more terrifying than death in mind for her.

This is Alice's story. It is one you have never heard, and one you will never, ever forget.

Oh my goodness! This sounds crazy, but amazing. I rushed out to check this out right after reading Love You Hate You Miss You.

City of Angels (A-List: Hollywood Royalty, #3) by Zoey Dean
Summary: (taken from Goodreads)

After a rocky first week in L.A., Jojo Milford is quickly getting used to her status as Hollywood Royalty. She and stepsister Myla have a tenuous truce, at least at home-but with Jojo becoming more and more popular at Beverly Hills High, how long can the ceasefire last? And is Myla's long-term relationship with BHH's resident rocker Ash Gilmour really over? Meanwhile, uber-starlet Amelie Adams is just like any other teenage girl: totally in love. Too bad her crush barely knows she exists. And too bad for Jake Porter-Goldsmith, Amelie's math tutor, who's hopelessly in love with Amelie

After devouring all ten books of The A-List series, so I was very happy that there was another generation of the series. I think this might be the last one though, which is kind of sad.

What's in your mailbox?

This Gorgeous Game and Crossing both look really good. I read The Possibilities of Sainthood by Freitas and loved it but This Gorgeous Game is a very different kind of book. It sounds creepy but good.

I've been reading a lot of good books lately too. It seems like I keep reading 5 star books. I hope you enjoy all your new books!

Great books! Living Dead Girl was a tough one for me. Even though it was a short book, I had to set it down a few times to digest what I had read. Crossing looks interesting, I'll have to add it to my TBR list. Happy reading!
